Professor Emeritus Hosts Book Signing
April 22, 2016
Joanna Innes, professor emeritus of English, has continued to pursue her interest in writing since her retirement from Newberry College. She recently published her first novel, “Blocked,” about art professor Lydia Drexel and the mystery she encounters during a mountain getaway to reclaim her lost muse. Innes recently completed the children’s book, “Wood Sprite,” and also has written a memoir about the effects of the Great Depression on her family, the results of post-WWII industrialization and the changes wrought by modern technology. While at Newberry from 1989-2002, Innes directed the Writing Center and taught English, Creative Writing, Writing and English Education courses. Books on Main (Main Street, Newberry) will host a Book Signing for Innes on Friday, May 6, from 11:30 a.m. - 2 p.m. Copies of her novel will be available for purchase. She lives in Charleston in retirement, so please drop by and welcome Joanna during her “homecoming” to Newberry.
