Newberry College Hosts Financial Aid Workshop Feb. 18

February 9, 2012

NEWBERRY, S.C.- A partnership of staff volunteers from Newberry College and the University of South Carolina will help those interested in attending college during a financial aid workshop at Newberry College Feb. 18.
The College Goal South Carolina event begins at 10 a.m. in the Alumni Music Center. Students and parents applying for financial assistance for college will receive free information and advice, and will also get assistance in completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
Students and parents who want to complete the FAFSA at the event will need to bring their 2011 income tax documents, including W-2s and other income information. Other documents that may be useful in completing the FAFSA include business and investment mortgage information, farm records, and documents related to investments such as stocks and bonds. In addition, participants who want to complete the FAFSA need to bring their Social Security numbers. Participants with driver's licenses should bring those, as well.
Students who complete a FAFSA during the workshop will be entered into a drawing to win an Apple iPad.
College Goal South Carolina is a joint volunteer effort by South Carolina Commission on Higher Education and the South Carolina Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (SCASFAA).
Students are encouraged to pre-register at www.collegegoalsc.org. For further information, contact Missy Lutz at (803)321-5120.
