Newberry College Appoints Jane Willis as Dean of Student Affairs
June 2, 2014
Jane Willis has been appointed to serve as dean of Student Affairs for Newberry College. Willis has served as interim dean of Students since November 2013 while retaining her duties as associate dean of Educational Services, a position she held since joining the College in 2011. As dean of Student Affairs, Willis will serve on the Colleges executive leadership team.
Willis will oversee a newly restructured office that includes both Student Affairs and Educational Services. Departments under her leadership include residence life, student engagement and leadership, student government, Greek life, health services, counseling, diversity education, library, student success and several other service departments.
I am delighted for the opportunity to serve the students of Newberry College as dean of Student Affairs, Willis said. Our new structure puts the College in a strong position to provide a robust and well-coordinated student experience.
Willis joined Newberry College as associate dean for Educational Services in August 2011 and assumed the additional duties of dean of Students in November 2013. Her appointment as dean of Student Affairs is effective immediately. Prior to joining Newberry College, she served for 21 years at the University of South Carolinas Moore School of Business. She served in a variety of capacities at USC, most recently as executive director for the Office of Career Management.
Jane has proven to be a valuable addition to our executive team while serving in her interim capacity, Newberry College President Maurice Scherrens said. I look forward to seeing Student Affairs continue to evolve under her able leadership.
Willis holds a Master of Education degree and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music, both from the University of South Carolina-Columbia.
