Adia Daniels Joins Newberry College as Assistant Dean of Students

Newberry College has named Adia N. Daniels to serve as Assistant Dean of Students in the Office of Student Affairs. Daniels, who began her duties on July 10, is responsible for developing and managing programs aimed at creating a diverse and healthy campus experience for students and helping students create meaningful connections throughout campus.
“Ms. Daniels brings a desire to collaborate, create solutions and strengthen relationships throughout campus,” said Dr. Sandra Rouse, Dean of Students. “She is well-prepared to serve Newberry College as a strong and compassionate advocate for our students.”
Daniels will advise student clubs and organizations and oversee the College’s Greek community, including annual events, member recruitment and the philanthropic endeavors of the College’s four national sororities and five national fraternities.
Before joining Newberry, Daniels served as Director of Greek Student Engagement and Development at Western Carolina University (2016-2017). She was responsible for developing, implementing and assessing all Greek Life programming and served as member of the leadership team of the AVP/Dean of Students.
Daniels served as Senior Coordinator-Student Victim Assistance for Georgia State University in Atlanta (2015-2016) where she helped provide comprehensive assistance and support for students experiencing victimization.
Daniels was Director of Student Activities at North Carolina Wesleyan College (2009-2014) where she provided oversight and assessment of all Student Activities programming. She facilitated the chartering of several international fraternities and sororities and led a renovation project for the Student Center. Daniels also served as an instructor for WesWay, the college’s freshman seminar, and was an academic advisor for first-year students.
Daniels served as a graduate assistant in the Office of Student Activities and Leadership (2008-2009) and the S.A.F.E. (Sexual Assault Free Environment) program for the Women’s Center (2007-2008) at Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Va. Daniels served as a Greek Life intern in at Norfolk State University (2009) and Virginia Wesleyan College (2008-2009). She was as a Volunteer Advocate (2004-2006) and Sexual Assault Services Coordinator (2006-2007) for Sexual Trauma Services of the Midlands in Columbia, S.C.
Daniels is a member of the Southern Association of College Student Affairs and has been a conference presenter for that organization and others. She is a current member of the Omicron Delta Kappa National Leadership Society and the Golden Key International Honor Society. She is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.
Daniels earned her master of science in Education with a concentration in higher education administration (2009) from Old Dominion University. She received her bachelor of science in Experimental Psychology (2006) from University of South Carolina-Columbia.
