Assistant Professor of Nursing
M.S.N., Walden University, 2011
B.S.N., University of South Carolina, 1979
Dwaine Thomas received her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from the University of South Carolina-Columbia, and her Master of Science in Nursing from Walden University with a focus on Nursing Education.
Prior to joining the faculty at Newberry College in 2012, Thomas worked as a Clinical Educator in the Center of Best Practice at Lexington Medical Center in West Columbia, SC. She is a highly skilled patient-focused registered nurse with more than 30 years of experience in many areas–Coronary Care Unit, Open Heart Recovery Room, Heart Catheterization Lab, Emergency Room, Intensive Care, Post Anesthesia Care, Day Surgery, and Clinical Education. Her professional goal was always to become a nurse educator who would be able to help prepare future nurses who are equipped to meet life challenges, become the best they could be, and give back to the communities in which they live. She feels that she can touch the lives of many more by helping to train others to be caring nurses who desire to use their hands to help others heal.
