Public Services Librarian
M.S., Library and Information Science, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, 1994.
B.S., Secondary English Education, Auburn University, 1989.
Angie Rachels grew up in Birmingham, Alabama, and joined Newberry College on September 5, 2017.
She came to Newberry College from the Newberry County Library, where she served as the Technical Services Director and Cataloger. Previous to moving to Newberry in 2014, Ms. Rachels worked in Lexington, Virginia, as a public librarian and cataloger. A lifetime ago, she was a school librarian and middle school English teacher in Illinois.
Ms. Rachels’ interests lie in vernacular photography, films, books, art, Portland Timbers soccer, dance, cooking, type 1 diabetes in young adults, snow, and travel. This fall, she is dabbling in volleyball spectatorship. Having raised two sons, she remains intrigued by the mysteries presented by work-life balance. Few of these topics seem to appear in the weekly pub trivia that she enjoys, but she persists.
