Professor Daphne Poore comes to Newberry College after teaching early childhood and elementary education for 12 years in South Carolina. She brings experience with curriculum development, pre-service teachers, and technology to the Department of Education.
Through her expertise in early childhood education, Professor Poore developed a 4 year old kindergarten curriculum while working at a private school in Greenville County. She mentored student teachers from Bob Jones University and Furman University for several years before coming to Newberry. Mrs. Poore also developed and taught a pilot program for technology integration in 4th and 5th grades and served as the Technology Coordinator and Webmaster for Haynsworth Private School and Greenbrier Elementary. Professor Poore is qualified as a trainer for Write From the Beginning and Thinking Maps. She is also trained in Everyday Math Counts, Learning Focused, Intel Teach to the Future, and the Fountas and Pinnell Literacy Program.
Professor Poore’s research interests include integrating iPads within the curriculum, pre-service teachers’ technology integration, and in-service teachers’ data literacy. She has presented regionally for technology integration, data literacy, math reflective journaling, and classroom management.
