Bio:
Dr. McGinnis received his B.S. in Saxophone Performance from Towson State University, his M.M. – Woodwind Specialist from East Carolina University, and his D.M.A. in Saxophone Performance with a minor in Music History from the University of Georgia. His master’s research focused on the saxophone soloists of the John Philip Sousa band. His doctoral research focused on music for saxophone and percussion by North American composers. Dr. McGinnis has performed at numerous regional and national conferences of the North American Saxophone Alliance and international conferences of the World Saxophone Congress. He is currently a member of the North American Saxophone Alliance, the College Music Society, and the National Association of College Wind and Percussion Instructors.
Prior to joining the faculty at Newberry College, Dr. McGinnis taught at Georgia College and State University, Piedmont College, and Adams State College. Since joining the faculty at Newberry College, Dr. McGinnis has presented collaborative recitals with Mr. Roy Stenstrom and Dr. Laurel Larsen.
