Bio:

J. Scott Joyner Newberry College as Vice President of Advancement in 2012. 

 

In 2002, he joined the staff at the University of North Carolina Wilmington as Director for Development for the Watson School of Education and later served as Director of Development for Major Gifts.He was named Associate Vice President of Nniversity Advancement at Coastal Carolina University in 2007 and directed all university advancement activities. He served as a key member of the strategic planning committee on financial viability and managed growth. He also served on the CCU Southern Association of Colleges Accreditation Committee for Governance. 

 

In July 2010, Joyner took on the role of Vice President of University Advancement at Armstrong, where he directed all areas including annual giving, major gifts, planned gifts, advancement services, alumni relations, research, and  marketing and communications. He was a member of the President's Cabinet and served as Executive Vice President of the 25-member Armstrong Foundation Board.

 

Joyner is a 1993 graduate of North Carolina State University earning a bachelor’s degree in communication. He earned a master’s degree in athletic administration in 1995 from Georgia Southern University.

 

He resides in Newberry with his wife, Barbara, and their two children, Allison and Joshua.
