Bio:

Chris Imhoff, a native of Cincinnati, Ohio, holds a Bachelor’s degree in Trumpet Performance from Ohio University and a Master’s degree in Trumpet Performance from Indiana University’s Jacobs School of Music. His primary teachers include Wesley Woolard, John Schlabach, and John Rommel. Chris has also studied with William Adam, Scott Belck, Vince DiMartino, Tony Plog, Robert Slack, and Greg Wing.

 

Chris has performed in a wide variety of musical styles over the years from commercial gigs to chamber music, rock bands to symphony orchestras. He has been a substitute for the Cincinnati Chamber Orchestra, the Cincinnati Baroque Orchestra, the Columbus (IN) Philharmonic, and the Richmond (IN) Symphony. He also has performed with Cincinnati Brassworks and subbed with various Cincinnati brass quintets. Chris has given performances of J.S. Bach’s Brandenburg Concerto No. 2 at Ohio University and Valparaiso University’s Bach Festival. While freelancing in the Cincinnati, Bloomington, and Athens areas, he had the opportunity to play many musicals, including Annie Get Your Gun, Anything Goes, Brigadoon, Bye Bye Birdie, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, Hair, Jesus Christ Superstar, Kiss Me Kate, Kismet, Man of La Mancha, The Wizard of Oz, and The Wiz. Chris also performed with the blues/rock band, The Royales, based out of Athens, OH, and the Cincinnati bands, Dangerous Jim and the Slims and the Powerhouse Boogie Band.

 

Beginning in the fall of 2008, Chris began traveling across North America with touring productions of Broadway shows, including The Wizard of Oz, A Chorus Line, Dreamworks’ Shrek the Musical, and Catch Me If You Can. Touring has also provided an opportunity for him to present masterclasses at Auburn University, Middle Tennessee State University, and Indiana University of Pennsylvania about life on the road and touring in general. Chris and fellow trumpeter Eric Dickson were featured in the International Trumpet Guild’s January 2012 journal discussing the challenges and rewards of the touring lifestyle. Chris lives in Greenville, SC with his wife Lauren, and maintains an active jazz and classical freelance schedule in the Upstate and Western North Carolina. Most recently, Chris performed at Flat Rock Playhouse, the State Theater of North Carolina, for their production of My Fair Lady.
