Bio:
Dr. Hughes received her B.A. from Wofford College with a double major in Spanish and Humanities, her M.A. from Vanderbilt University and her Ph.D. in Theological and Philosophical Studies from Drew University. Dr. Hughes's scholarship draws insights from process and feminist thought, critical theory, and the world's various wisdom traditions to reimagine classic Christian symbols for a postmodern, pluralistic world.
Prior to joining the Newberry faculty, Dr. Hughes taught in the Theological Studies Department at Hanover College, Hanover, Indiana, offering courses in contemporary theologies, gender studies, and religion pluralism. At Newberry she directs the Muller Center, which provides programing and resources related to ethics, vocation, and civic engagement.
