Bio:

Austin Gaboriau started his formal bass training with Ian Bracchitta at the South Carolina Governor's School for the Arts and Humanities. Austin continued his studies with Craig Butterfield at the University of South Carolina to receive a Bachelor's Degree in Music Performance on Double Bass. While at the University of South Carolina, Austin performed classical repertoire as well as study jazz improvisation and theory.

 

Currently, Austin is pursuing a D.M.A. in Bass Performance at the University of South Carolina. As well as continuing his studies with Craig Butterfield, Austin has been studying piano tuning/repair with Randy Rentz. Outside of USC's ensembles, Austin has performed with the Long Bay Symphony, South Carolina Philharmonic, and various touring musicals. Austin Gaboriau has been the double bass and electric bass instructor for Newberry College since Spring 2013.
