Lillian Bouknight received her Diploma of Nursing from Greenville General Hospital School of Nursing, Bachelor in the Science of Nursing from University of North Carolina-Charlotte and Masters in the Science of Nursing from University of South Carolina-Columbia. She also is certified as an academic nurse educator by the National League for Nursing, and she was named a Palmetto Gold Award recipient in 2014.
Before joining the faculty at Newberry College in 2008, Ms. Bouknight taught in the Associate Degree Nursing program at Piedmont Technical College in Greenwood, SC for six years. Prior to teaching at Piedmont Technical College she taught at Newberry Career Center for six years. While there, she taught in the health careers classes as well as the license practical nursing program. She has many years of experience in a variety of nursing areas including medical-surgical nursing, school nursing and psychiatric nursing. Her main focus of nursing prior to teaching was in psychiatric nursing. She worked in direct patient care, staff development and management in state and private psychiatric facilities.
